AI Software Engineer

Function

Our client is looking for a Bot Developer to help shape and expand a digital assistant used by customers. In this role, you will contribute to new conversational use cases and functionality, while improving the quality, accuracy, and capabilities of the underlying solution. You will work in a collaborative environment where ownership, technical depth, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are key.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop conversational flows and technical solutions that enable new customer use cases.
• Translate functional requirements into clear technical designs and robust implementations.
• Work on several initiatives at the same time, ranging from smaller enhancements to more strategic developments.
• Maintain, update, and expand the code base while keeping quality standards high.
• Collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders to deliver well-considered solutions.
• Use AI agents and agentic workflows to automate tasks and improve development efficiency.

Technical Skills

• Relevant working experience with Python.
• Knowledge of Java, preferably Spring.
• Understanding of continuous integration and development principles.
• Experience with Git.
• Knowledge of cloud-native principles, including microservices and RESTful design.
• Experience with LLMs and generative AI.
• Experience integrating APIs and backend systems.
• Nice to have: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and AWS.

Practical Information

This opportunity is based in Belgium. A minimum office presence of 50% is required, including at least one day per week in Leuven and one or two additional days in Leuven or Ghent.

Language requirements: strong English communication skills are required.
