We’re looking for a COBOL Analyst Programmer Consultant to join our client’s development team and contribute to the maintenance and evolution of critical enterprise applications. In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment where legacy systems remain essential to business operations, while also contributing to new development initiatives. You will play a key role in translating functional requirements into technical solutions and ensuring high-quality software delivery.
Role & Responsibilities
As a COBOL Analyst Programmer, you will be responsible for both maintaining existing systems and developing new applications while working closely with functional and technical stakeholders.

Maintain and enhance existing COBOL-based applications within a legacy environment

Develop new functionalities and applications based on business requirements

Translate functional analyses into clear technical specifications in collaboration with colleagues

Implement application developments in COBOL and ensure code quality

Perform unit and integration testing for developed applications

Support business stakeholders during validation and acceptance testing phases

Document developments and technical implementations

Communicate with stakeholders regarding the execution and implementation of requested developments

Share knowledge, documentation, and best practices with team members
Profile – The Ideal Candidate
Our client is looking for a consultant with strong analytical capabilities and proven experience in legacy application environments.

Degree in programming or equivalent experience

Proven and recent experience as a COBOL Analyst Programmer

Strong experience managing legacy environments, including defect management and root cause analysis

Experience working in Agile development environments

Practical experience using AI tools to support development or analysis activities

Experience with technologies and tools such as SQL, Java, .NET, Git, GitHub, Angular, or Spring Boot
-
Experience working in environments related to public sector or social security institutions is considered a strong asset
-
Fluency in both French and Dutch, with a good working knowledge of English
