API Architect

We’re looking for an experienced consultant to join our client’s team and help shape a next-generation geospatial data platform. The mission is to design and deliver a modern, high-performance infrastructure that exposes geographical data through OGC APIs, complementing and progressively replacing legacy web services. This future-proof solution is built for scalability, stability, and compliance with European Open Data regulations, while enabling faster and easier application development for both internal and external users.

Role & Responsibilities

As a consultant, you’ll play a key role throughout the engagement by contributing both strategically and hands-on. Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and architecting a robust OGC API–based solution

• Implementing and configuring the underlying infrastructure

• Optimizing performance, reliability, scalability, and security

• Actively contributing to development and technical decision-making

The Ideal Candidate

Our client is looking for a GIS API Architect / Consultant with a strong technical background and practical experience in:

• API architecture design and implementation

• OGC API standards and geospatial data infrastructures

• Hands-on development, configuration, and troubleshooting

• Performance tuning and API security best practices

Technical Skills & Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should bring solid expertise in:

• Docker and container-based environments

• GeoServer and geospatial services

• OpenAPI specifications and RESTful APIs

• PostgreSQL / PostGIS

• Python development

• Cloud-based infrastructures

Fluency in English and Dutch is required.
