Atlassian Xray Specialist

Function

Our client is looking for an experienced Xray specialist to help shape and standardize test management within a Jira Cloud environment. This assignment focuses on building a scalable, maintainable setup that supports quality assurance teams today while laying the foundation for future automation, DevOps, and CI/CD initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the current test management processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Gather and translate the needs of QA, development, product, and business stakeholders into a clear target approach.
• Define a durable governance model for Xray and establish the standards for its use.
• Design the target test management model within Jira and Xray.
• Set up conventions for structuring, naming, classifying, and maintaining test assets.
• Define roles, responsibilities, and access rights.
• Configure Xray Cloud according to the target architecture and Atlassian best practices.
• Improve traceability between requirements, user stories, defects, test cases, and test campaigns.
• Create standard dashboards, reporting, and quality KPIs.
• Prepare the platform for progressive test automation and evaluate integration needs with automation and CI/CD tools.
• Develop guidance, documentation, and adoption materials for administrators and key users.
• Support teams with training, advisory, and knowledge transfer activities.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise with Xray Cloud.
• Very good knowledge of Jira Cloud.
• Proven experience designing and implementing test management frameworks.
• Solid understanding of QA best practices and test governance.
• Experience integrating test management with automation tools and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of Atlassian and Xray APIs.
• Experience in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Ability to define a target architecture for test management and ensure scalability.
• Understanding of traceability and compliance requirements.

Profile

• Confirmed experience in quality assurance and test management.
• ISTQB certification is required or strongly expected based on the source profile.
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills.
• Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on results.
• Ability to challenge requirements and propose best practices.
• Comfortable communicating with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Autonomous, pragmatic, and able to provide leadership in a consulting context.
• Capable of balancing long-term vision with the delivery of quick, tangible value.

Practical Information

• Language requirements: fluent Dutch or French, and active knowledge of English.
