Function
Our client is looking for a seasoned automation engineer to help advance infrastructure automation and Automation-as-Code across a complex enterprise technology environment. This hands-on role focuses on designing and delivering scalable automation that improves consistency, strengthens security and compliance, and increases operational resilience across infrastructure, network, security, cloud, and platform domains.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise automation solutions using Ansible and related technologies.
- Build reusable roles, collections, playbooks, and automation frameworks that can be applied across teams and platforms.
- Define and support standards for Infrastructure-as-Code and Automation-as-Code.
- Promote automation adoption across infrastructure and operations teams.
- Ensure solutions are version-controlled, thoroughly tested, and properly documented.
- Automate provisioning, configuration management, patching, lifecycle management, and operational remediation.
- Support standardised deployments and configurations for Linux and Windows servers.
- Integrate automation with enterprise platforms and tooling ecosystems, including self-service capabilities where relevant.
- Automate security hardening, compliance checks, vulnerability remediation, and evidence collection.
- Contribute to audit readiness, operational controls, disaster recovery, and business continuity efforts.
- Improve resilience through automated recovery, monitoring, and continuous service improvement.
- Partner with infrastructure, security, architecture, and application stakeholders to identify automation opportunities.
- Coach and mentor engineers on automation best practices and act as a subject matter expert.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Ansible Automation.
- Solid understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code and Automation-as-Code principles.
- Experience creating reusable automation components such as roles, collections, and playbooks.
- Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including Linux and Windows server environments.
- Experience with automation for provisioning, patching, configuration management, and remediation.
- Familiarity with security hardening, compliance automation, and governance requirements.
- Ability to work with platform and tooling integrations across an enterprise landscape.
- Experience with monitoring, reporting, and operational control frameworks is an advantage.

- Several years of experience in infrastructure automation or a similar senior engineering role.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical challenges.
- Automation-first mindset and a genuine drive to replace manual work with scalable solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Continuous improvement mentality and a strong sense of ownership.
- Self-motivated, outcome-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple technical domains.
- Strong documentation habits and a disciplined approach to knowledge sharing.
- Fluent English communication skills.
