Azure Data Engineer

We're looking for a skilled Technical Authority to join our client's dynamic team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the architectural integrity and technical excellence of the Data Engineering teams, acting as the main conduit between Data Engineers and Platform Architects. A solid understanding of the Azure Data ecosystem is essential for this position, allowing for direct involvement in critical components and practices.

Key Responsibilities

This role encompasses several key areas:

Technical Leadership:

• Serve as the technical authority for Data Engineers within the team, promoting high standards and best practices.
• Conduct peer reviews and validate pull requests, ensuring compliance with data engineering standards.
• Provide mentorship to junior Data Engineers, fostering their growth and development.
• Drive continuous improvement within data engineering practices across the organization.

Architecture & Standards:

• Act as the primary liaison between Data Platform Architects and engineering teams, translating architectural guidelines into actionable tasks.
• Recommend alternative technical solutions based on specific Data Warehouse (DWH) layers (ingestion, transformation, consumption).
• Participate actively in the definition and enhancement of data platform and data engineering standards.
• Provide structured feedback to enhance practices and tools based on field experience.

Delivery & Operational Expertise:

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines within the Azure ecosystem, demonstrating proficiency in:
  • Azure Synapse
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Mapping Data Flow (MDF)
  • Databricks
  • PySpark
  • SQL
• Support data modelers in creating robust, scalable, and well-modeled data structures, with a strong focus on dimensional modeling.
• Contribute to performance optimization, data quality, and operational reliability.

• Experience in data engineering practices and architectural standards.
• Fluency in English and Dutch to facilitate effective communication.
