Cloud Solution Engineer

Function

We’re looking for a senior Solution Engineer to join our client’s team and play a key hands-on role in designing and delivering robust, cloud-native IT solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys working across the full solution lifecycle and feels comfortable in complex, large-scale environments. You will be part of a multidisciplinary agile team where collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence are central.

Role & responsibilities
As a core technical contributor, you will design, build, run, and evolve end-to-end IT solutions within your team’s scope:

• Design and develop secure, scalable solutions across the full stack, including APIs, microservices, cloud, and event-driven architectures

• Guide the team in solution and IT design, application development, production deployment, and ongoing maintenance

• Work closely with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality products

• Contribute actively to agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, refinements, demos, and retrospectives

• Support CI/CD practices and help maintain and optimize development, test, acceptance, and production environments

• Continuously grow your own expertise and share knowledge on new tools, technologies, and best practices within the team

The ideal candidate
Our client is looking for a technically strong and pragmatic engineer with a broad skill set:

• Higher education degree in computer science (short or long cycle) from a recognized EU university or college (mandatory)

• At least 10 years of hands-on experience designing, defining, and developing APIs

• At least 10 years of hands-on experience building and integrating microservices

• Strong Java background with 10+ years of Java SE experience, including 5+ years with Java SE 10+

• Solid experience in software and solution design (cloud, API, microservices, event-driven systems)

• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, NoSQL databases, and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with cloud-native development and PaaS integrations, preferably on Azure

• Experience setting up, maintaining, and optimizing environments across the full delivery lifecycle in a (hybrid) cloud context

• Experience working in large agile delivery teams

• Knowledge of Quarkus, Event-Driven or Behavior-Driven Development, Domain-Driven Design, European interoperability standards, or public-sector building blocks is a strong plus

• Strong analytical mindset, able to propose alternatives and make well-founded technical recommendations

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Languages & working environment
Due to the international and bilingual context, a good working knowledge of English is required, along with Dutch or French.
