Cloud & Virtualisation Engineer
Function
We're looking for an experienced Cloud & Virtualisation Engineer to join our client's infrastructure team. In this senior consulting role, you will play a key part in designing, implementing and continuously improving a complex hybrid IT environment. Working across on-premises and cloud technologies, you'll provide architectural guidance, technical expertise and strategic recommendations to ensure a secure, scalable and high-performing infrastructure.
The Role
As a Cloud & Virtualisation Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, implementation and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and maintaining Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, file and print services, SQL Server and PKI infrastructures.
- Managing collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, Teams and SharePoint.
- Supporting database platforms including SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle and Sybase.
- Administering enterprise storage solutions, application servers (Windows & Linux) and virtualization platforms including VMware and Proxmox.
- Managing hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Azure.
- Optimising infrastructure for high availability, disaster recovery, performance, scalability and security.
- Monitoring system health, analysing logs and alerts, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and coordinating with external partners when required.
- Producing technical documentation, maintaining CMDB information and contributing to infrastructure roadmaps, technology strategies and future architecture improvements.
- Providing technical input for procurement activities, infrastructure projects and security initiatives based on Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a senior infrastructure professional with extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise environments. You combine strong technical expertise with an architectural mindset and are comfortable advising stakeholders on both operational and strategic topics.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant infrastructure experience.
- Native Dutch or French speaker with a good command of both national languages.
- Good written and reading skills in English.

- Infrastructure Operations
- Windows Server & Windows Client
- Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, ADFS and Microsoft PKI
- VMware, VMware NSX and VMware Tanzu
- Microsoft 365, Exchange, Teams VoIP, Group Policy and PowerShell
- Hybrid Cloud (Azure), Linux containers and Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE)

- SCCM

- Citrix NetScaler
- Enterprise networking (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi and networking protocols)
- ITIL best practices
Essential Expertise
Candidates should also demonstrate solid hands-on experience with the following enterprise technologies:
- NetApp Storage
- Trustwave Secure Email Gateway (SEG)
- Laboratory-related technology platforms such as Evisense/Trescal
A minimum of 5 years of experience with these technologies is required. Experience implementing and maintaining security best practices aligned with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) is considered essential.
