Cobol Developer
Function
We’re looking for a Cobol Developer to strengthen our client’s IT team. You’ll be part of a close group of developers and analysts working on applications that are vital for the organization’s core business. This is a role where you can combine your technical expertise with problem-solving skills and enjoy real responsibility in building, maintaining, and optimizing backend systems.
Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Cobol applications that support the core business processes

Perform functional and technical analyses for smaller projects, or collaborate with analysts and architects on larger initiatives

Carry out unit testing and provide support during regression testing
-
Work closely with end-users and IT colleagues to ensure effective implementation and validation
-
Contribute to technical improvements and optimization projects within the IT landscape
Tasks & Role
In this role, you will:

Work with Microfocus Cobol in an AIX/UNIX/DB2 environment

Handle backend development, with communication to the frontend via IBM MQ
-
Take initiative, propose pragmatic solutions, and operate independently while being supported by a team of experienced professionals

Assist users during validation and testing phases
The Ideal Candidate

Solid experience with Microfocus Cobol and writing SQL queries
-
Strong knowledge of DB2; experience with UNIX/AIX is an advantage
-
Analytical mindset, structured and results-oriented working style
-
Strong communication skills and ability to interact with end-users and colleagues
-
Flexible, stress-resistant, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Interest or experience in private banking is a plus
-
Language requirements: English and Dutch
