Data Compliance Expert
Function
We're looking for an experienced Data Compliance Expert to join our client's Central Data Governance function. In this strategic role, you'll help shape and strengthen enterprise-wide data compliance practices, driving the design and implementation of privacy and compliance processes while supporting the adoption of modern governance tools. Working closely with cybersecurity, legal, risk, and business stakeholders, you'll play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance across a complex organisational landscape.
Your Role
As a Data Compliance Expert, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the organisation's data governance and compliance framework. Your key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, redesigning, and implementing data privacy and compliance processes.
- Supporting the selection and implementation of a dedicated data governance and compliance platform.
- Collaborating with Data Governance, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, Risk, and Business teams to embed best practices.
- Coordinating compliance initiatives and facilitating collaboration across multiple stakeholders.
- Conducting regulatory and compliance analyses, including risk assessments and reporting activities.
- Supporting awareness and change management initiatives to promote a strong data protection culture.
- Translating complex regulatory and technical requirements into practical business solutions.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for a collaborative and experienced professional with a strong background in data compliance and governance. You bring:
- At least five years of experience delivering GDPR-related projects within large and complex organisations.
- Proven expertise in several of the following areas: Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), Data Governance, Data Compliance, Data Security, Privacy by Design, Data Retention, and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, NIS2, and the EU AI Act.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR and practical experience with at least one additional European regulatory framework.
- Experience coordinating compliance or data governance initiatives and working across Business, IT, Legal, and Risk functions.
- Hands-on experience with data compliance tools and their implementation, configuration, or adoption.
- A Master's degree or equivalent experience in Data Compliance, Governance, Risk, or a related field.
- A recognised Data Protection Officer (DPO) certification, such as IAPP, ISACA, or an equivalent qualification.

- Practical experience in GRC and regulatory risk management processes.
- Professional proficiency in Dutch, French, and English.
- Availability to work in a hybrid environment, including a minimum of two days per week on-site in Brussels.
- Additional certifications such as ISO 27001, ISO 42001, or equivalent are considered a strong asset.
