Data Governance and Data Quality Expert

We're looking for a Data Governance & Data Quality Expert to join our client's Data & Analytics team. In this strategic role, you will help shape and drive the organisation's data governance and data quality vision, ensuring that data is managed as a valuable business asset. Acting as a trusted advisor to both business and IT stakeholders, you will lead governance initiatives, improve data quality practices and support the adoption of a strong data-driven culture across a large and complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously enhance data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Define and maintain governance structures, operating models, roles and responsibilities.
• Establish and oversee governance bodies, policies, standards and best practices.
• Manage key governance components, including:
  • Business Glossary
  • Data Catalogue
  • Metadata Management
  • Data Lineage
  • Data Quality Management
  • Data Protection and Regulatory Compliance
• Collaborate closely with business and IT stakeholders to align governance processes with organisational objectives.
• Act as a change agent, supporting the adoption of new governance practices, roles and responsibilities across the organisation.
• Deliver training, coaching and guidance to stakeholders such as Data Owners and Data Stewards.
• Monitor governance processes, identify non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure the timely and high-quality execution of governance activities, including business term documentation, data classification and data quality rule definition.
• Track governance KPIs, data quality metrics and compliance indicators, reporting findings and recommending improvements.
• Contribute to and lead internal and external data governance communities and initiatives.

Your Profile

• Proven experience working within organisations of more than 1,000 employees.
• Strong expertise in at least four of the following domains:
  • Data Governance Roles & Governing Bodies
  • Data Quality
  • Data Protection & Regulatory Compliance
  • Data Lineage
  • Business Glossary Management
  • Metadata Management
• Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating data governance initiatives and transformation programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to act as a bridge between Business, IT, Legal and Risk teams.
• Experience analysing and improving data governance and data quality processes.
• Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory topics into clear and actionable guidance for non-technical audiences.
• Experience with governance process monitoring, compliance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with industry-leading data governance and data management tools is considered a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of Python and/or SQL is highly desirable.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in data governance, data management, analytics or a related discipline.
• Fluent communication skills in Dutch, French and English:
  • Dutch or French at native or C-level proficiency, with the second national language at minimum B2 level.
  • English at minimum B2 level.
• Certifications such as DMBOK, CIGO, AAIM or equivalent are considered a strong asset.
• Willingness to work predominantly on-site at the client's location, depending on project requirements.
