Function

We’re looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our client’s data-focused team and help strengthen the way data is understood, managed, documented, and governed across the organization. This is a hands-on consulting assignment combining data analysis, metadata management, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and the practical implementation of data governance principles.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document datasets, data sources, metadata, and data flows, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and areas requiring clarification.
  • Map and document data ownership and responsibilities, including Data Owners, Data Stewards, and other relevant roles.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and working agreements.
  • Identify and follow up on data quality and metadata issues, helping define quality requirements, rules, definitions, and remediation actions.
  • Gather information from business and technical stakeholders and translate it into clear documentation, process descriptions, definitions, and structured overviews.
  • Register and maintain datasets, business terms, ownership information, and other metadata in data catalog and governance tooling, such as Collibra or OpenMetadata.
  • Support the practical implementation of data governance agreements within existing and evolving data and business processes.
  • Contribute to business process development and optimization (BPM) and help drive adoption of governance practices across different stakeholder groups.
  • Support coordination, planning, and follow-up activities related to governance initiatives where required.

Profile

We’re looking for someone who combines strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business environments. You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, data governance, metadata management, data quality, or a related ICT/business environment.

  • Proven experience analyzing and documenting datasets, metadata, or data flows.
  • Strong experience collecting, structuring, and translating information from multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and/or metadata management.
  • Experience with business process development and optimization (BPM).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to turn complex information into clear, consistent, and actionable documentation.
  • A structured, accurate, and pragmatic approach to your work.
  • The ability to support change and adoption, engaging stakeholders and encouraging them to embrace new ways of working.
  • Affinity with modern data platforms and data-driven environments.
  • Experience with Collibra, OpenMetadata, or comparable data catalog tooling is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and relevant regulations such as GDPR is an advantage.
  • Experience working in a data or AI environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management disciplines such as planning, coordination, timing, cost awareness, and estimation is an advantage.
  • Dutch at CEFR C2 level is required/preferred for effective stakeholder collaboration.
