We're looking for a consultant to join our client's team, who is seeking temporary coverage for an important role related to data protection and privacy. This position will ensure the ongoing continuity of critical operations and projects while a valued team member is on leave. The ideal candidate will embody a proactive approach to managing compliance and will act as a key liaison for privacy matters within the organization.

Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, focusing on compliance and project continuity, including:

  • Assuming the legal role of Data Protection Officer during the interim period.
  • Monitoring adherence to GDPR and related regulations.
  • Continuing and following up on ongoing DPO-related projects without disruption.
  • Advising management and staff on data protection and privacy issues.
  • Supporting projects by ensuring privacy by design and privacy by default.
  • Handling and following up on queries, reports, and data breaches.
  • Serving as a contact point for supervisory authorities when necessary.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to keep planned initiatives on track.

Expectations

The role requires a strong focus on ensuring stability and continuity in data protection operations, with key expectations including:

  • Maintaining stability within the DPO operations.
  • Ensuring that projects, implementations, and improvements continue without interruption.
  • Identifying risks in a timely manner and providing pragmatic solutions.
  • Ensuring a proper handover at the start and finish of the replacement period.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge of data protection legislation, such as GDPR, with demonstrable experience in data privacy within the healthcare sector. Required qualifications and skills include:

  • Natives proficiency in Dutch or French, with a good command of English.
  • Experience in advising on data protection within new and existing projects.
  • Expertise in preparing and maintaining data registers, DPIAs, and processor agreements.
  • A proven track record in managing data breaches accurately and timely.
  • Ability to document data processing activities within large organizations and assess related risks.
  • Proficient in equipping employees with the necessary knowledge on data protection and privacy.
  • Experience serving as a contact point for supervisory authorities and involved parties.
