Database Administrator

Function

We’re looking for a consultant to join our client’s technical team as a Database & Data Specialist. In this role, you will support and evolve a critical data foundation used within operational technology environments. You will combine operational database management with analytical and development activities, ensuring data platforms remain reliable, secure, and optimized while also enabling new business initiatives and integrations.

Role and responsibilities
As part of the data platform team, you will be responsible for both operational maintenance and the continuous improvement of database environments supporting critical systems.

• Manage and maintain database platforms used in operational environments, ensuring stability and performance.

• Perform operational tasks such as health checks, tuning, upgrades, patching, data refreshes for non-production environments, and data corrections or cleaning.

• Investigate, design, and implement improvements that support new business needs, projects, and integrations with surrounding systems.

• Optimize and tune database performance to ensure high availability and reliability for critical applications.

• Contribute to change and release processes while ensuring proper documentation of work and procedures.

• Support security and compliance standards while maintaining a strong security-focused mindset.

Technical profile

Experience and knowledge

• Proven experience with Oracle databases and Apache Cassandra environments.

• Strong experience with database optimization, tuning, and performance analysis.

• Experience in setting up and maintaining Linux environments.

• Solid knowledge of relational database technologies and database architecture.

• Experience with scripting using Python and Shell.

• Experience setting up and managing database platforms in enterprise environments.

• Experience working with large, business-critical applications and infrastructures.

• Familiarity with change and release management processes.

• Knowledge of security practices and standards such as ISO27001.

• Experience with at least one operating system environment (e.g., Unix, Linux, or Windows).

Education and language

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent through experience.

• Native or near-native proficiency in Dutch (CEFR level C2).
