Database Administrator Expert

Function

We are currently looking for a Database & Data Analysis Specialist to join our client’s technical operations environment. In this role, you will support and optimize the core data infrastructure within a critical operational technology (OT) environment. You will work on both operational maintenance and the development of new data-driven solutions, contributing to the stability and evolution of business-critical systems and integrations.

Role & Responsibilities
As part of our client’s technical systems team, you will manage and enhance the underlying data platforms that support operational processes. The role combines hands-on database management with analytical work, focusing on improving performance, reliability, and integration with surrounding systems.

Key Tasks

• Maintain and support the operational data infrastructure through activities such as health checks, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning
• Manage data operations including data refreshes in non-production environments, data updates, and data cleansing
• Optimize and tune database performance to ensure stability and efficiency of business-critical applications
• Design, implement, and maintain database environments, primarily using Oracle and Apache Cassandra
• Contribute to the development and improvement of new business requirements, projects, and system integrations
• Automate operational tasks and workflows using scripting languages such as Python and Shell
• Ensure proper documentation of processes, procedures, and technical changes
• Participate in change and release management processes to support reliable system deployments
• Maintain a strong security and compliance mindset aligned with industry standards

Profile – The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience with database optimization and performance tuning
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle database environments
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Apache Cassandra environments
• Solid experience working with Linux environments and at least one major operating system (Unix, Linux, or Windows)
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and database architecture
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Shell for automation and operational tasks
• Experience working with large-scale, business-critical applications
• Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices, with a strong security-oriented mindset (e.g., ISO27001 environments)
• Ability to document technical processes and operational procedures clearly and accurately
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or equivalent professional experience
• Native-level Dutch proficiency (CEFR level C2)

Nice to Have

• Experience working with operational technology environments or SCADA-related systems
