DevOps Engineer

Function

Our client is looking for a hands-on Full-Stack DevOps professional to help shape core architecture, strengthen cloud and deployment practices, and support practical AI-driven automation across the organization’s applications and services. This opportunity is ideal for someone who combines strong Python development skills with a solid DevOps mindset, enjoys building scalable solutions, and works well in a high-trust environment with plenty of autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Support the technical build across APIs, user experience, backend and frontend systems, data platforms, and overall architecture in close collaboration with the IT lead.
• Act as a senior technical advisor to help define the most suitable technologies, tools, and architectures for each initiative.
• Provide technical input to business analysis and translate requirements into workable solutions.
• Apply best practices to ensure sustainable scalability, maintainability, and high-quality code documentation.
• Contribute to AI-based regression testing and the implementation of AI-powered automation.
• Maintain, develop, and improve Python web services and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with other IT colleagues to ensure smooth service communication.
• Support adjacent teams by building custom solutions and automating recurring tasks.
• Help shape processes and workflows by providing technical insight and recommending long-term solutions.

Technical Skills

The role requires strong experience across backend development, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure, with a clear focus on Python and modern deployment tooling.

• Backend: Python 3.10+, FastAPI, Celery, SQLModel, Pydantic, Pydantic AI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, PostgreSQL, JWT, REST APIs, Git, Black, Flake8, programmatic use of AI models, WordPress administration, plugin and theme development.
• DevOps: GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker.
• Cloud / Sysadmin: Google Cloud Platform, GKE, Compute Engine, IAM, Secret Manager, Monitoring, BigQuery, Storage, Cloud SQL, error reporting and logging, VPC networking, Vertex AI, Linux, Nginx, WireGuard, ufw/iptables.
• Nice to have: TypeScript, Next.js, NPM, ESLint, Prettier, Husky.

Profile

• Excellent Python, cloud architecture, and deployment skills.
• Proven ability to deliver effectively across both frontend and backend environments.
• Experience with data architecture is a plus.

• Comfortable working independently while consistently delivering quality work.
• Structured, pragmatic, and able to focus on high-impact priorities.
• Team-oriented mindset and openness to feedback.
• Understanding of B2B trade is a plus; knowledge of trade credit insurance is a nice-to-have.

Practical Information

• Location: Brussels. Remote work is possible.
• This is a long-term consulting opportunity.
• Travel may be required on a limited basis, up to 5% of the time.
• Languages: full professional English is required; Dutch or French is a nice-to-have.
