We’re looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician to join our client’s team and keep critical electromechanical equipment running reliably across Belgium. This is a highly mobile, practical role for someone who enjoys diagnosing technical issues, working directly with equipment, and finding solutions in the field. You’ll combine preventive maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair while working closely with technical teams and customers.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, maintain, and repair electromechanical equipment at customer locations.
- Diagnose complex technical faults and carry out effective repairs using a structured and independent troubleshooting approach.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and extend its operational lifetime.
- Provide on-site and, where applicable, remote technical assistance and support.
- Troubleshoot and make adjustments to Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs using laptop-based tools and software.
- Read and follow mechanical assembly and detailed technical drawings.
- Work with electronic, electromechanical, and custom technical equipment, including non-standard PCs and printers, power supplies, network components, bearings, security locks, touchscreens, and displays.
- Identify and troubleshoot key components within self-service or automated equipment, such as printers, power supplies, and network connections.
- Document interventions accurately and prepare clear technical reports covering machine operation, faults, diagnostics, and solutions.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams when issues require additional expertise.
- Support or train colleagues and end users on equipment operation and best practices.
- Follow all relevant safety procedures and technical standards.
Profile
The ideal candidate has solid experience as a maintenance or field service technician and is comfortable working in a practical, non-office environment. You have a logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting and can quickly familiarize yourself with unfamiliar equipment.
- Proven experience with electronic and electromechanical systems; relevant IT or hardware experience is an advantage.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing technical equipment independently.
- Experience installing, configuring, and testing new equipment and verifying its correct operation.
- Experience with remote support tools, remote diagnostics, or equipment monitoring is a plus.
- Experience with PLC systems and troubleshooting PLC programs is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret mechanical assembly and detail drawings.
- Strong technical reporting skills, with the ability to document interventions clearly and accurately.
- Experience with ticketing, vending, payment, or similar automated/self-service machines is a strong plus.
- A structured problem-solving mindset and the ability to develop a logical approach when encountering unfamiliar equipment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
Requirements
- Based in Walloon Brabant, Namur, Liège, or Hainaut to ensure rapid response times for interventions in these regions.
- Comfortable travelling extensively on a daily basis, typically covering approximately 200–300 km.
- Willing to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Valid category B driving licence and access to a suitable personal vehicle with adequate boot space.
- Fluent French at C1 level.
- Working knowledge of Dutch and English at approximately B2 level.
- Autonomous, reliable, practical, and customer-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility for resolving technical issues from diagnosis through to completion.
