Function

We’re looking for an experienced FinOps Practitioner to join our client’s organization and take a leading role in bringing financial discipline, transparency, and optimization to their cloud landscape. You will act as a bridge between finance, procurement, and engineering, ensuring that cloud adoption remains both technically effective and financially sustainable.

Role and responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and continuously optimize multi-cloud usage and spending, applying techniques such as reserved instances, spot instances, autoscaling, and rightsizing.

  • Define and enforce cloud financial governance standards, including tagging, cost allocation, and budget controls, while tracking vendor pricing changes and their impact on forecasts.

  • Partner with finance teams to build accurate budgets, implement showback/chargeback models, and support scenario planning for cloud investments.

  • Produce clear, actionable cost and usage reporting aligned with the FinOps FOCUS standard, while ensuring compliance with relevant Belgian and EU public sector regulations.

  • Advocate for cost-aware engineering by educating teams on FinOps principles, collaborating with procurement on contracts and discounts, and integrating FinOps into CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.

Profile and delivery setup

  • At least 5 years of professional FinOps experience, with demonstrable expertise in enterprise cloud, data center, licensing, infrastructure automation, and SaaS budgeting and forecasting.

  • Proven experience with at least two hyperscalers, with strong expertise in Azure.

  • Hands-on experience implementing showback or chargeback models and leveraging FinOps tooling and automation for monitoring, anomaly detection, and reporting.

  • Professional English at C1 level and willingness to visit our client’s site in the Brussels area on a monthly basis.

The ideal candidate

  • Holds valid FinOps Certified Practitioner and FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst certifications.

  • Can design and operate enterprise-level budgeting and forecasting processes, build automated dashboards, and define robust tagging and allocation standards.

  • Has a strong track record in optimizing reserved instances and savings plans, eliminating idle resources, and delivering measurable cost savings.

  • Is comfortable defining FinOps processes, KPIs, and review cadences, mentoring teams, and collaborating with procurement on enterprise agreements while ensuring regulatory compliance.
