We're looking for an experienced Functional Analyst to join our client's team and contribute to the delivery of innovative IT solutions within a complex operational environment. In this role, you will analyze and optimize business processes, translate business needs into functional specifications, and support the implementation of modern solutions, including mobile applications, cloud-based platforms and integrations with legacy systems. You will play a key role in projects related to workforce planning, competency management and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

As a Functional Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

• Organizing workshops and requirement-gathering sessions with business stakeholders to collect, structure and prioritize requirements;
• Analyzing and optimizing business processes and translating them into functional and technical specifications;
• Producing clear documentation, defining acceptance criteria and supporting the creation of test cases;
• Defining API specifications using Swagger and creating sequence diagrams to document system interactions and integrations;
• Collaborating closely with architects, developers and business teams to ensure that solutions align with business objectives;
• Writing and understanding SQL queries to analyze and validate data;
• Supporting testing activities, user acceptance testing and quality assurance processes in collaboration with testing and delivery teams;
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Technical Profile

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with solid technical expertise and experience in modern software environments. Key competencies include:

• Proven experience in functional analysis and requirements gathering;
• Knowledge of REST APIs, API integrations and cloud-based platforms, particularly Azure;
• Experience with SQL, JSON, data modelling and basic programming concepts;
• Strong knowledge of BPMN, UML and sequence diagrams;
• Familiarity with testing methodologies, automated testing frameworks and quality assurance processes;
• Experience with Jira and Confluence;
• Understanding of Agile methodologies such as Scrum and SAFe;
• Knowledge of change management, release planning and deployment processes;
• Experience in public transportation or similarly complex operational environments is considered a strong asset.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you bring:

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Engineering, Engineering or a related field;
• At least five years of experience as a Functional Analyst or Business Analyst;
• Proven experience working with Azure technologies;
• Experience managing stakeholders, defining acceptance criteria and balancing business requirements with technical feasibility;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge requirements constructively and propose practical alternatives;
• A proactive mindset, strong sense of ownership and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams;
• Experience supporting testing activities, user acceptance testing and change management processes;
• Fluency in English and fluency in either Dutch or French, combined with a good command of the second national language;
• Experience with at least one long-term assignment of twelve consecutive months in a similar environment;
• Availability to work on-site at our client's offices at least two days per week.
