  • Analyze and document legacy programs and their underlying data models.

  • Collaborate closely with Java architects and analysts to define modern Java equivalents for existing COBOL components.

  • Recommend tools and strategies for code and logic migration, leveraging and extending existing Java-based components where feasible.

  • Define comprehensive testing strategies to validate the new solution.

  • Develop a detailed roadmap with deliverables, timelines, and phased deployment plans.

  • Lead the migration phase, overseeing operations, managing risks, and ensuring milestones are met.

  • Drive toward a complete decommissioning of the COBOL application by May 2026.

Technical Profile

The ideal candidate will bring the following experience and skills:

  • Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL.

  • Solid understanding of transaction middleware such as Tuxedo or CICS.

  • Familiarity with Java and the J2EE stack.

  • Proficient in SQL and database modeling.

  • Experienced in test case development and test planning.

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and familiarity with tools like Jira.
