Function

We’re looking for a consultant to join our client’s Data & Analytics team and play a key role in shaping data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will act as a bridge between business and technology: translating analytical needs into clear, actionable data requirements, helping to shape roadmaps, and ensuring high-quality, usable data assets and reporting solutions that support operational excellence and better service delivery.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Analyse our client’s business needs and translate them into clear functional specifications, use cases and data requirements for reusable data pipelines and reports.

  • Act as a trusted partner for business stakeholders and leadership, serving as their primary point of contact on data and reporting topics.

  • Advise the business on reporting approaches and best practices, using mock-ups, proof-of-concepts and data visualisation techniques where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with data users, suppliers and other stakeholders across departments to build and manage data roadmaps.

  • Work closely with development and testing teams to ensure requirements are correctly implemented into validated data assets, reports and test scenarios.

  • Document solutions thoroughly and keep documentation up to date.

  • Coordinate regularly with data owners, data architects, data custodians and data consumers to manage improvements, incidents and backlog items.

  • Ensure alignment with existing business and solution architecture, consulting enterprise, system and solution architects when needed.

Profile

  • Master’s degree.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role (e.g., Functional Analyst, Application Owner, Business/Data Analyst).

  • Solid experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English (spoken and written) – Dutch or French at C-level minimum; English at least B2.

  • Eligible to work in Belgium and able to be physically present on-site with our client at least 2 days per week.

The ideal candidate

  • Strong, proven experience with an Azure data estate (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Power BI or similar).

  • Familiar with analysis techniques such as use cases, scenario building and requirement modelling.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Methodical, detail-oriented and well-organised, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

  • Interest in – or knowledge of – transport operations (ideally within the railway sector) and a motivation to contribute to improved operational efficiency and customer experience.
