Functional Analyst Data & Analytics
Function
We’re looking for a consultant to join our client’s Data & Analytics team and play a key role in shaping data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will act as a bridge between business and technology: translating analytical needs into clear, actionable data requirements, helping to shape roadmaps, and ensuring high-quality, usable data assets and reporting solutions that support operational excellence and better service delivery.
Role & Responsibilities

Analyse our client’s business needs and translate them into clear functional specifications, use cases and data requirements for reusable data pipelines and reports.

Act as a trusted partner for business stakeholders and leadership, serving as their primary point of contact on data and reporting topics.

Advise the business on reporting approaches and best practices, using mock-ups, proof-of-concepts and data visualisation techniques where appropriate.

Collaborate with data users, suppliers and other stakeholders across departments to build and manage data roadmaps.

Work closely with development and testing teams to ensure requirements are correctly implemented into validated data assets, reports and test scenarios.

Document solutions thoroughly and keep documentation up to date.

Coordinate regularly with data owners, data architects, data custodians and data consumers to manage improvements, incidents and backlog items.

Ensure alignment with existing business and solution architecture, consulting enterprise, system and solution architects when needed.
Profile

Master’s degree.
-
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role (e.g., Functional Analyst, Application Owner, Business/Data Analyst).

Solid experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Fluent in Dutch, French and English (spoken and written) – Dutch or French at C-level minimum; English at least B2.

Eligible to work in Belgium and able to be physically present on-site with our client at least 2 days per week.
The ideal candidate

Strong, proven experience with an Azure data estate (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Power BI or similar).

Familiar with analysis techniques such as use cases, scenario building and requirement modelling.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Methodical, detail-oriented and well-organised, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Interest in – or knowledge of – transport operations (ideally within the railway sector) and a motivation to contribute to improved operational efficiency and customer experience.
