We're looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Business & Functional Analyst to join our client's digital transformation programme. As part of a highly skilled core team, you'll help lay the foundation for a next-generation digital platform before the development phase scales up. Acting as the bridge between business and IT, you'll translate business needs into clear functional specifications that guide an AI-assisted development process, while ensuring quality through structured human validation.

The Role

As a Senior Business & Functional Analyst, you will play a key role in defining business requirements, modelling processes, and supporting the successful delivery of innovative digital solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Facilitating workshops with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and key users to capture and validate requirements.
• Analysing and documenting existing business processes, including content creation, translation, validation, publication, and lifecycle management.
• Assessing current application capabilities such as search, taxonomy, user profiles, and subscription management.
• Gathering, prioritising, and refining business requirements using Agile techniques, while managing and maintaining the product backlog.
• Defining user personas and mapping end-to-end user journeys for internal users, external professionals, citizens, partners, and AI-driven use cases.
• Designing document classification models and collaborating with stakeholders to define governance and publication rules.
• Writing high-quality functional specifications and acceptance criteria to support AI-assisted software development.
• Validating delivered functionality, coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensuring business expectations are met.
• Acting as the liaison between business and IT while performing data analysis using SQL to support decision-making and validate assumptions.

Your Profile

We're looking for a consultant with strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management capabilities, and extensive experience translating business needs into scalable digital solutions.

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Analyst in complex IT and data-driven environments.
• Strong expertise in requirements engineering and writing functional specifications with clear acceptance criteria (e.g. Volere/Robertson, Use Cases, Gherkin).
• Solid experience working in Agile environments, including epics, user stories, story mapping, and backlog management.
• Hands-on experience with business process and information modelling using BPMN, UML, and conceptual or information models.
• Strong SQL skills and experience analysing data to support functional analysis and decision-making.
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI and analytical tools such as Python.
• Experience with data modelling and data governance is considered a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of API ecosystems, integration patterns (event-driven architecture, pub/sub), and enterprise architecture frameworks such as ArchiMate or TOGAF is a plus.
• Fluent Dutch (native level or equivalent) with a good command of French and English.
