Functional & Business Analyst
Function
We’re looking for a Business / Functional / Technical Data Analyst to join our client’s team and play a key role in the transition from complex legacy environments towards a modern, future-proof ICT landscape. You’ll operate at the intersection of business analysis, data, architecture and technology, helping translate existing systems and data structures into clear, reusable and sustainable solutions.
The role is particularly focused on understanding legacy and mainframe environments, analysing data structures and flows, and supporting data migration, semantic modelling, ontology development and the analysis of centrally collected logging and audit information. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, database specialists, security experts and project leads, while also facilitating workshops with domain experts.
Responsibilities
- Analyse existing legacy and mainframe applications, domains, data structures, data flows and functional processes.
- Identify and document business logic, data definitions, dependencies and relationships between systems and processes.
- Translate existing functionality into modern functional processes, data models, integration concepts and semantic models.
- Contribute to the definition and development of ontologies and reusable data concepts.
- Perform data mapping, impact analysis and functional analysis to support migration from legacy environments.
- Analyse and interpret logging, audit trails and data-query activity, contributing to the development and use of appropriate exploitation and analysis tools.
- Support the functional validation of migrated processes and data, ensuring consistency and traceability.
- Produce clear and structured documentation covering processes, data models, business rules and dependencies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and facilitate workshops with domain experts to capture and validate requirements.
The ideal candidate
You are an analytical and structured professional who can move comfortably between business requirements, data concepts and technical environments. You combine strong communication skills with a critical and methodical approach, and you are able to make complex legacy environments understandable to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
