Function
We're looking for a professional to join our client's team, playing a critical role in developing a long-term vision for future infrastructure architecture. This position involves crafting a coherent roadmap that supports the realization of this architecture, ensuring that our client makes informed decisions and effective budget allocations over multiple years. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with various teams to provide independent and knowledgeable guidance based on technological trends and past practical experience.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing a future-focused architecture that aligns with current technological advancements and opportunities to utilize federal framework contracts.
- Creating a roadmap to implement the established architecture.
- Documenting strategies for existing components and maintenance contracts, including possible extensions and plans for phasing out old components while introducing new solutions.
- Providing advisement on staffing needs for the architecture team, emphasizing continuity, and reducing single points of failure.
- Collaborating effectively with the Architecture Board and contributing to cost-saving strategies that align with sound investment decisions.
- Overseeing the implementation of the infrastructure architecture and roadmap, particularly to meet compliance standards.
Technical Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience within ICT infrastructure, with at least 8 years in an architectural role.
- Proven experience in developing long-term infrastructure visions and corresponding roadmaps.
- Extensive knowledge of key infrastructure standards, including:
- Core Infrastructure: Compute & Servers (Windows & Linux), Virtualization & Containerization (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes), Storage & Backup strategies.
- Cloud Platforms: Public cloud focus (especially Azure) and hybrid multi-cloud architectures.
- Identity and Access Management: Experience with Azure AD, SSO, MFA, and compliance protocols.
- Network and Security: Familiarity with architectural principles and security compliance.
- DevOps Practices: Understanding of CI/CD and automation tools like Azure DevOps and Terraform.
Personal Attributes and Language Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to various stakeholders, be proactive and results-oriented, and adapt quickly to dynamic environments. Proficiency in Dutch and English is required, with French as an additional asset. Experience in the federal government sector would be a significant advantage.
