IT Analyst/Developer COBOL

We’re looking for a consultant to join our client’s IT team, supporting and evolving mission-critical life insurance systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a stable yet evolving mainframe environment, where your analytical mindset and technical expertise will directly impact core business operations. You’ll collaborate with a close-knit team of specialists and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing a central back-end application.
Role & Responsibilities
As an IT Analyst/Developer, you will contribute to both the operational stability and the continuous improvement of our client’s mainframe-based life insurance platform.

Manage and support daily operations of a back-end group life application running on a mainframe environment

Analyze, design, and develop enhancements and solutions to maintain and evolve the core system

Monitor, investigate, and resolve incidents, ensuring minimal business disruption

Deliver assigned projects and change requests within agreed timelines and quality standards

Perform code analysis to understand application behavior and document both technical and functional aspects

Implement structured, efficient, and maintainable solutions aligned with best practices
Profile & Technical Expertise
Our client is seeking a medior-level back-end professional who combines strong legacy system knowledge with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent practical experience

Minimum 3 years of experience delivering IT solutions within the life insurance domain

Strong knowledge of COBOL and DB2

Proven experience working in mainframe environments; exposure to group life insurance systems is a plus

Solid command of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Able to manage priorities, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality results

Comfortable working autonomously while remaining a collaborative team player

Capable of communicating clearly with both technical stakeholders and senior management
Language Requirements & Application Expectations

Fluency in French or Dutch, with a good working knowledge of the other national language
