Java Cloud Developer & Scrum Master

We’re looking for a senior Solution Engineer / Agile Delivery Lead to join our client’s expert-level technology team in a highly strategic and fast-paced environment. This is not a pure coaching, advisory, or management position — the role requires a hands-on technical expert with a strong background in Java cloud engineering combined with recent experience leading Agile/Scrum delivery within complex software initiatives. You will join an already ongoing transformation program, making adaptability, ownership, and delivery focus essential. The team is composed exclusively of highly experienced professionals working together in a collaborative and innovation-driven setting.
The Role
As a senior Solution Engineer, you will contribute across the full software delivery lifecycle — from architecture and engineering to Agile delivery coordination and operational follow-up. You will play a central role in guiding the team through sprint execution, release planning, solution design, and implementation while ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable cloud-native solutions. This role requires someone who combines technical depth with strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills, capable of aligning both technical and business teams around delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support modern cloud-native solutions based on APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
- Act as a hands-on Scrum/Agile Delivery Master, actively contributing to sprint planning, refinements, retrospectives, demos, and daily coordination
- Support medium- and long-term release planning while managing dependencies across initiatives
- Guide multidisciplinary teams in delivering secure, scalable, and robust software solutions
- Collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to drive successful product delivery
- Contribute to software design decisions, implementation strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work across the full technology stack and support deployment and production readiness activities
- Promote Agile best practices and contribute to the implementation of frameworks such as SAFe or LeSS
- Continuously share knowledge, introduce new practices, and support team maturity and delivery excellence
The Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and solution design within enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in Java SE, including recent experience with Java SE 10+
- Extensive experience designing and integrating APIs and microservices architectures
- Proven hands-on experience with event-driven systems, event sourcing, and cloud-native engineering
- Strong recent experience as a Scrum Master / Agile Delivery Lead within greenfield cloud transformation projects
- Practical experience with Azure DevOps and Agile delivery management
- Solid understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, and software design principles
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Behavioral-Driven Development (BDD), or related methodologies is considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of Angular is a plus
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fluent in English with strong command of both Dutch and French due to the multilingual working environment
Additional Information
- The role requires an on-site presence approximately three days per week to support close collaboration and team engagement
- Candidates should hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized European institution
