Function
Our client is strengthening its digital capabilities to modernise internal information systems and support business operations through secure, sustainable business applications. This opportunity is for a medior software developer who will contribute to the delivery of backend-focused features within a collaborative team, working alongside a solution architect / lead developer and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain application features, with a strong focus on backend components such as APIs, services, and data access.
- Work within a cloud environment, preferably Azure, handling configuration, logging, identity, storage, and basic troubleshooting of the services in use.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and automated testing practices.
- Follow good security and delivery habits, including not committing secrets and respecting dev / test / prod environments.
- Write clear, reviewed code and document your deliveries.
- Estimate and refine work together with the solution architect / lead developer, while flagging risks early.
- Participate in agile ceremonies and collaborate through pairing when tackling unfamiliar topics.
Profile
- 2 to 5 years of professional software development experience; internships alone are not sufficient.
- Confirmed in either Python or Java, with the ability to work independently on day-to-day tasks in at least one of the two.
- Practical experience with a public cloud environment, ideally Azure.
- Solid understanding of standard DevOps practices such as Git flow, pull requests, CI/CD, environment promotion, and secret management.
- Curious, proactive, and comfortable working closely with a technical lead rather than only executing tickets.
- Nice-to-have technical assets include Docker, SQL, Spring, FastAPI, Flask, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
Technical Skills
- Backend development with REST APIs and service-oriented application components.
- Python or Java as the primary programming language.
- Azure cloud services, ideally including resource groups, App Service / Functions / containers, identity, storage, and monitoring.
- CI/CD and version control with Git.
- Agile ways of working.
- Relevant certification such as AZ-900 or AZ-204 is a plus, but not required if cloud experience is solid and recent.
Practical Information
- On-site presence in Brussels is required at least three days per week.
- Language requirements: fluent English for code, documentation, and team communication; Dutch or French is a plus.
- This is a long-term consulting opportunity.
