Manual Test Engineer

We’re looking for a talented consultant to join our client’s team as part of a groundbreaking modernization initiative. This program focuses on transforming a legacy monolithic application into a modern, cloud-native microservices architecture powered by Kubernetes. Built on an API-first and event-driven design, this initiative goes beyond technical migration—it represents a full business transformation aimed at improving agility, scalability, and accelerating the delivery of value to both internal and external users.
Responsibilities & Tasks
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring software quality across complex, distributed systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, preparing, and maintaining detailed test plans and test cases
- Documenting test results, anomalies, and quality insights in a structured and traceable way
- Performing system and integration testing, including work with messaging systems such as ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ
- Conducting exploratory testing and applying critical thinking to identify edge cases from an end-user perspective
- Collaborating with developers, analysts, QA engineers, team leads, and management to communicate software quality and risks
- Supporting continuous improvement of testing practices and automation approaches
The Ideal Candidate
You are a quality-driven professional with strong experience in Agile environments and a passion for modern software testing practices. You bring both technical understanding and a structured approach to ensuring high-quality delivery.
You should have:
- Strong expertise in Agile methodologies and Behavior Driven Development (BDD)
- Hands-on experience with API testing and strong programming logic
- Experience using Gherkin syntax for BDD scenarios
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Xray, Selenium, and Playwright
- Experience in clarifying functional and non-functional requirements
- Familiarity with test documentation, execution, and reporting practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey quality insights clearly across stakeholders
- Fluency in English, with Dutch or French considered a strong asset
Additional Experience
It would be considered an advantage if you also bring:
- An ISTQB certification or equivalent knowledge of testing methodologies
- Experience working in complex, distributed or message-driven systems
- A proven ability to contribute to or define QA standards and best practices within Agile teams
