Microsoft 365 Engineer
Function
We're looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 specialist with strong SharePoint Online expertise to help our client strengthen its digital workplace, improve collaboration governance, and enhance the security and resilience of its cloud environment. In this long-term consulting assignment, you'll combine hands-on technical implementation with security-focused solution design, helping ensure that critical collaboration services remain secure, recoverable, and operational in the event of cyber incidents or major system disruptions.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and govern SharePoint Online environments, including site structures, hubs, permissions, sharing models, content types, and information architecture.
- Contribute to Microsoft 365 security and cyber-resilience initiatives, covering tenant hardening, privileged access, backup and recovery, ransomware preparedness, and recovery procedures.
- Configure and support Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access, multifactor authentication (MFA), Privileged Identity Management (PIM), guest access, external collaboration, and application consent.
- Manage Microsoft Intune, with a focus on device compliance, configuration profiles, and device-based security controls linked to Conditional Access.
- Implement information protection measures using Microsoft Purview, including sensitivity labels, data loss prevention (DLP), and retention policies.
- Develop PowerShell scripts to automate administration, assess configurations, inventory resources, and strengthen security across Microsoft 365 services.
- Support incident response and recovery activities involving compromised accounts, inappropriate data sharing, and the restoration of SharePoint sites or mailboxes.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and business teams to address risks related to external sharing, guest access, excessive permissions, and shadow IT.
- Document existing and target environments, technical standards, and operational procedures, ensuring a smooth handover to internal teams.
- Support user adoption through guidance, training, and follow-up on new collaboration practices.
Profile & Technical Expertise
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, including substantial experience designing, implementing, and administering SharePoint Online environments.
- Experience beyond end-user support, with responsibility for solution design, implementation, governance, and operational management.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
- A security-oriented mindset and practical experience with identity and access management, least-privilege principles, privileged roles, external sharing controls, and data protection.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Intune, particularly compliance policies, configuration profiles, and integration with Conditional Access.
- Advanced PowerShell skills for Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Entra ID, and Intune administration and automation.
- Experience contributing to at least one initiative involving tenant hardening, cyber resilience, backup and recovery, information protection, or incident recovery.
Experience with Microsoft 365 backup and restore solutions, including tested recovery procedures, is an advantage. Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Defender for Cloud Apps, Microsoft Sentinel integrations, or Power Platform tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps is also beneficial. Relevant Microsoft certifications, including MS-102, SC-300, SC-400, or MS-500, are valued, although equivalent practical experience is equally relevant. Previous experience in a public or semi-public environment is considered a plus.
