Network Security Engineer

We're looking for a skilled security expert to join our client's team, where you'll play a vital role in safeguarding their IT infrastructure. Your focus will be on designing, optimizing, and enhancing network security solutions within a high-availability production setting, following strict no-downtime principles.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

• Operating and maintaining advanced firewalls, including Checkpoint, Checkpoint Maestro Hyperscale, and Palo Alto, adhering to no-downtime guidelines.
• Executing and managing projects focused on boosting network security.
• Troubleshooting and resolving firewall-related issues within a live production context.
• Creating and sustaining a test environment for firewalls that mirrors production configurations.
• Addressing incidents involving related network devices.
• Designing and implementing innovative security measures to shield IT infrastructures from external threats.

The Ideal Profile

To excel in this role, you should bring the following qualifications:

• Over 5 years of experience in network security.
• In-depth understanding of routing protocols, with particular expertise in OSPF.
• Hands-on proficiency with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Solid knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
• CCSA certification (or equivalent) is mandatory.
• CCSE certification (or equivalent) is also required.
• CCSM and CCME certifications are advantageous.
• Experience with Linux and Windows servers in a networked setting.
• A proven track record of maintaining and troubleshooting network equipment.
• Experience working with Checkpoint R81.x and R82.x.
• Fluency in English and Dutch, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

This position is a senior-level role with a hybrid work model, typically involving 3 days on-site and 2 days remote, to be established in collaboration with management.
