Networking & Security Engineer

Function

We're looking for an experienced Network & Security Engineer to join our client's technical team. In this role, you'll combine hands-on network management with challenging security projects, helping organizations build, maintain and optimize secure, reliable IT infrastructures.

You'll work on everything from complex firewall configurations and network troubleshooting to modern network architectures, hybrid cloud connectivity and automation. Key Responsibilities

• Network & Security Management: Manage, maintain and optimize network infrastructures, ensuring security, availability and performance.

• Design & Implementation: Design and implement modern networking and security solutions, including firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN and wireless networks.

• Incident & Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot complex network and security incidents, perform root cause analyses and implement sustainable solutions.

• Cloud & Hybrid Networking: Support the integration and optimization of cloud and on-premises network environments.

• Automation & Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks, streamline operations and improve efficiency through scripting.

• Technical Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, consultants and architects to address technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.

• Knowledge Sharing: Maintain technical documentation, share best practices and contribute to the team's technical expertise.

Your Profile

• Several years of professional experience in Network Engineering, Network Security or a similar infrastructure role.

• Hands-on experience with networking technologies such as Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Juniper, SD-WAN and wireless networking.

• Solid knowledge of security technologies, including FortiGate, Check Point, VPN, Zero Trust, Network Access Control (NAC) and security monitoring.

• Familiarity with cloud and hybrid networking, preferably involving Microsoft Azure or Cloudflare.

• Experience with or a strong interest in PowerShell, scripting, automation and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes rather than relying on temporary fixes.

• A structured, proactive approach to technical problem-solving, documentation and knowledge sharing.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical colleagues and stakeholders.

• Languages: Professional proficiency in Dutch and English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
