Function
Our client is looking for an experienced database professional to support the evolution of a secure, high-performing data environment within a multidisciplinary technical setting. The assignment focuses on PostgreSQL administration, backend integration in Python, and the reliable operation of database systems that support critical internal applications and communication flows.
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, improve, and support database integration across internal and external information and communication systems.
- Contribute to the definition of standards, guidelines, and procedures for the development and evolution of technical systems.
- Design, administer, and optimize PostgreSQL databases with a strong focus on security, performance, and reliability.
- Handle backup, restore, monitoring, and performance tuning activities for PostgreSQL environments.
- Design database structures and develop data synchronization mechanisms.
- Support development projects by delivering tailored database solutions.
- Contribute to backend development in Python and work with source code management in GitLab.
- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
- Support the implementation of additional database management systems when required.
- Optionally contribute to monitoring and logging using the Elastic Stack.
Technical Skills
- Proven experience in PostgreSQL administration and database integration.
- Strong backend development skills in Python.
- Hands-on experience with Linux environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab.
- Knowledge of REST web services.
- Experience with data integration and database synchronization.
- Familiarity with Elastic Stack is considered an advantage.
- Exposure to Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift is considered an advantage.
- Experience with NoSQL, key-value, document, or vector databases is considered an advantage.

- Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in IT, or equivalent experience.
- Methodical, accurate, and able to work well under pressure.
- Independent and proactive, with a strong sense of initiative.
- Adaptable, creative, constructive, and client-oriented.
- A true team player with flexibility in working hours.
- Capable of documenting completed work clearly and thoroughly.
Practical Information
- This is a long-term consulting opportunity.
- Full-time assignment: 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid working model with on-site presence required at least two days per week, depending on tasks and in agreement with the team.
- Remote work is allowed from home within Belgium.
- Language requirements: French or Dutch, with passive understanding of the second national language preferred; English is also required.
- The assignment is within a multidisciplinary team composed of internal and external collaborators.
