PowerBI CoE Lead

Function

We're looking for an experienced Power BI Center of Excellence Lead to join our client's Data Management team. In this strategic role, you will drive the adoption, governance, and continuous improvement of the organization's Microsoft Fabric and Power BI reporting platform. Acting as the central point of contact for both business users and BI developers, you will establish best practices, define reporting standards, lead a BI Center of Excellence, and support the organization's journey towards data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and governance of a Power BI Center of Excellence.
• Define and promote best practices, guidelines, guardrails, and training materials for Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
• Gather and document business reporting requirements and translate existing reporting solutions into future-state architectures.
• Contribute to migration strategies from legacy reporting environments to modern Microsoft Fabric-based solutions while acting as the key liaison between business and IT.
• Design, review, validate, and optimize Power BI reports and dashboards developed by internal and external teams.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to transform and model data into meaningful business insights.
• Advise on report maintenance, monitoring, performance optimization, data quality, and reporting governance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Deliver training sessions and provide coaching to business users, Citizen Developers, and technical teams.
• Develop proof of concepts, mock-ups, and reporting recommendations to support business initiatives.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to define roadmaps, manage improvements, incidents, and enhancement requests while ensuring alignment with the overall business and solution architecture.
• Support testing activities, functional validation, and data quality initiatives.

Your Profile

You hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, or a related field and have at least 10 years of experience in a senior Business Intelligence or Power BI leadership role. You have extensive expertise with Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data & Cloud Services, Microsoft Analysis Services (AAS), RayFin, and Copilot within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. You are experienced in Agile delivery environments using Scrum, Kanban, JIRA, and Confluence, and have successfully led BI transformation initiatives, migration programs, and Centers of Excellence. Strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to inspire and engage BI communities are essential. Experience delivering end-to-end solutions, creating technical documentation, defining governance frameworks, and providing training is highly valued. You communicate fluently in Dutch, French, and English and are willing to work on-site in Brussels at least two days per week.
