Function
We're looking for an experienced developer to join our client's team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining, modernizing, and extending business-critical applications within a hybrid environment that combines classic ABL development with modern API-driven architectures. Collaborating closely with analysts, project managers, and end users, you'll work alongside other experts in a supportive and dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain applications using ABL (Advanced Business Language).
- Design and optimize database access for OpenEdge DB.
- Build and expose APIs using OpenEdge Studio.
- Analyze and improve performance concerning queries, locking, and transactions.
- Integrate with both internal and external systems.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate
Must-have skills:
- Strong experience with Progress OpenEdge / ABL.
- Solid understanding of:
- Temp-tables, datasets, and buffers.
- Transactions and locking techniques (NO-LOCK, SHARE-LOCK, EXCLUSIVE-LOCK).
- Experience in OpenEdge database design and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of APIs.
- Familiarity with PASOE (Progress Application Server).
Nice-to-have skills:
- Experience with .NET.
- Modern IDEs, such as Progress Developer Studio / PDSOE.
- APIDOG.
