We're looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join our client's team on a strategic, long-term consulting assignment in Brussels. You’ll play a key role in driving a complex technical initiative from planning through implementation, ensuring clear objectives, effective stakeholder collaboration, and high-quality delivery. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned project manager who combines strong technical project leadership with a structured, proactive approach and the ability to translate strategic priorities into tangible results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage project scope, objectives, budgets, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Identify dependencies, assess risks, and coordinate mitigation actions to keep the project on track.
  • Lead and align business analysts and other stakeholders around shared priorities and deliverables.
  • Monitor progress and provide clear reporting on status, decisions, issues, bottlenecks, risks, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain decision logs, track agreed actions, and ensure transparent project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain quality management plans and support the implementation of cross-functional processes.
  • Guide the setup of monitoring solutions and ensure a smooth transition to operational teams.
  • Use tools such as JIRA and Confluence for project tracking, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, external partners, and suppliers while supporting change management, user training, and organisational adoption.
  • Contribute to project governance, demand management, strategic reporting, best practices, and the continuous improvement of project management processes.

Your Profile

  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience leading IT and technical projects, with proven project management expertise.
  • Previous experience in the public sector is essential.
  • Strong capabilities in project planning, budget management, risk and quality management, change management, and vendor coordination.
  • Experience developing project visions and roadmaps, defining KPIs, and establishing clear priorities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bring diverse teams together and drive progress independently.
  • Native-level proficiency in Dutch or French, a strong passive understanding of the other language, and good command of English.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset, combined with discretion, reliability, and the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.

Practical Information

  • Location: Brussels, with at least two days per week on-site, depending on project needs and team agreements.
  • Engagement: Full-time, long-term consulting assignment.
  • Remote working: Available from a consultant's or employer's address in Belgium, subject to project arrangements.
  • Continuity: Availability for a follow-up phase after implementation is required.

If you're an experienced IT project leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys bringing structure, people, and technology together, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a strategic public-sector initiative.
