Project Manager – Power BI & Data Analytics

Function

We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our client's team and take ownership of strategic BI and Data Analytics initiatives across a large enterprise environment. You will lead end-to-end projects involving modern BI platforms, data transformation, migrations and continuous improvement, acting as the key link between business stakeholders, IT teams, architects and external partners. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior professional who combines strong project leadership with a genuine hands-on understanding of BI and data technologies.

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage the complete project lifecycle, from initiation and analysis through implementation, stabilization and handover.
• Translate business objectives into clear project scopes, roadmaps, deliverables and realistic planning.
• Manage project budgets, risks, dependencies, quality and scope changes, ensuring controlled decision-making.
• Lead project meetings, steering committees, workshops, requirements sessions and stakeholder discussions.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, technical specialists and external suppliers.
• Act as the central point of contact between Business, IT and technology partners, ensuring alignment at all levels.
• Lead projects involving Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and the wider BI and Data Analytics landscape.
• Coordinate BI migration and transformation initiatives towards modern data platforms.
• Work closely with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Data Engineers, BI Developers and SAP specialists to manage technical dependencies.
• Ensure solutions comply with architecture, security, governance and quality requirements.
• Support the development of a BI Center of Excellence by promoting best practices, standards, guidelines and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen data-driven decision-making.
• Take ownership of end-to-end delivery while maintaining a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
• Where required, contribute hands-on to the relevant BI, data and AI technologies.

The Ideal Candidate

You bring at least 10 years of experience as a Project Manager, Program Manager, Delivery Manager or similar, with a strong track record in BI, Data Analytics or enterprise IT. You have at least 5 years of experience delivering Data & Analytics projects and are comfortable leading complex multidisciplinary initiatives. You combine excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with a strong delivery mindset, and you are able to engage and inspire broad BI communities.

Your technical background includes deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data & Cloud solutions, with knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Analysis Services and related technologies. Experience with AI tools such as RayFin, Copilot or Claude is highly relevant, while knowledge of SAP BW/BW4HANA and SAP Datasphere is a strong advantage. You have experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, as well as tools including Jira and Confluence. Experience with BI architecture, data warehousing, data governance, security, migration planning and solution architecture is essential. You are also able to create project charters, project plans, migration strategies, roadmaps, architecture documentation, best practices and guidelines, and have experience providing Power BI or Fabric training.

Requirements

• Degree in Economics, Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a senior BI Project Management role with substantial hands-on expertise.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Data & Analytics project delivery.
• Strong, demonstrable experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Cloud and Data solutions.
• Hands-on experience with BI and reporting platforms and end-to-end BI/Data Platform architectures.
• Experience with RayFin and Copilot in a Microsoft Fabric environment.
• Strong analytical skills, including use cases, scenarios, process analysis, reporting and problem resolution.
• Proven experience leading or coordinating a BI Center of Excellence.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to engage and inspire large BI communities.
• Fluent in Dutch, French and English, both spoken and written. Dutch or French at native/C1 level, the other national language at minimum B2 and English at C1 level.
• Willingness to work on-site in Brussels at least 2 days per week.
