SAP Basis Engineer

Function

We’re looking for a Senior SAP Basis Engineer to join our client’s transversal SAP technical team and play a key role in safeguarding the stability, integrity, and performance of their SAP RISE environments. You will operate within a modern cloud landscape (PCE, SAP BTP, and various SaaS solutions) while also ensuring operational continuity of legacy SAP systems in a hybrid setup.

This is a high-impact role combining architecture awareness, hands-on Basis expertise, structured documentation, and strong coordination with SAP, implementation partners, hyperscalers, and offshore teams.

The Role

As Senior SAP Basis Engineer, you will define, plan, coordinate, and follow up on all technical activities related to SAP RISE environments. You will ensure structured implementation, clear documentation (in English), and smooth collaboration between SAP services and implementation partners.

In parallel, you will support and coordinate the operational management of legacy SAP systems (including ECC, CRM, and Solution Manager with ChaRM) in close cooperation with an offshore partner. You will take an active leadership role in monitoring, issue resolution, lifecycle management, and knowledge transfer toward run/operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & RISE Environment Management

• Ensure stability and integrity of SAP RISE landscapes (PCE, SAP BTP, SaaS solutions)

• Coordinate with SAP, hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, GCP), and implementation partners

• Manage upgrades, patches, and lifecycle activities in cloud and hybrid environments

• Oversee connectivity, integrations, and base administration within SAP BTP

• Support SAP Cloud ALM and/or Solution Manager environments

Legacy & Hybrid Landscape Support

• Provide operational support for SAP ECC, SAP CRM, and SAP Solution Manager (incl. ChaRM)

• Monitor system health, performance, and workflows

• Perform incident, problem, and change management

• Manage transport and lifecycle processes

• Ensure structured handover and documentation to operations teams

Governance, Security & Collaboration

• Apply SAP Basis security and authorisation concepts

• Document procedures and technical activities in a structured way (English)

• Coordinate and follow up on offshore SAP Basis teams

• Prevent and manage escalations through proactive communication

• Act as a transparent, assertive, and solution-driven team player

The Ideal Candidate

Experience & Technical Expertise

• Minimum 7 years of SAP Basis experience, including at least 4 years with SAP S/4HANA

• Proven project experience in SAP RISE environments (PCE and SAP BTP)

• Strong hands-on expertise in:

  • SAP HANA (installation, monitoring, performance tuning, upgrades)

  • SAP S/4HANA (on-premise and private cloud/PCE)

  • SAP ECC and SAP CRM

  • SAP BTP (connectivity and integrations)

  • SAP Solution Manager (ChaRM, monitoring, ITSM) and/or SAP Cloud ALM

  • SAP Gateway / OData services

  • SAP Transport Management and lifecycle management

• Experience with cloud upgrades and patching strategies

• Solid understanding of SAP Basis security concepts

Collaboration & Communication

• Demonstrated experience working with offshore SAP Basis teams, including coordination and issue management

• Strong analytical skills: ability to break down complex Basis issues and deliver structural solutions

• Clear documentation practices and knowledge-sharing mindset (experience with tools such as Jira and Confluence is a plus)

• Professional working proficiency in English and Dutch or French

• Available for at least 2 onsite days per week
