SAP FICO Specialist

Function

We’re looking for a Senior SAP FICO Specialist to join our client’s team as a key functional expert and application owner within the Finance and Controlling domain. In this role, you’ll combine hands-on SAP CO expertise with business analysis, solution design and application support, working closely with finance stakeholders and technical teams to deliver sustainable SAP solutions in a complex enterprise environment.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-line functional support for SAP CO and ensure the continuous follow-up of the application.
• Analyse business requirements and manage change requests from initial assessment through functional design, configuration, testing and go-live.
• Participate in blueprinting, fit-gap and requirements analysis for SAP CO solutions.
• Work across key Controlling processes, including planning, CO-OM, CO-PC and CO-PA, as well as master data and integrations with external applications.
• Analyse the impact of proposed changes on existing systems and estimate implementation effort.
• Configure SAP CO and produce high-quality functional and technical specifications.
• Design test plans and independently execute unit and integration testing.
• Support business users during supervised testing and provide go-live support to ensure controlled deployments.
• Collaborate with business process owners and specialists from other SAP domains to understand end-to-end processes and resolve cross-functional requirements.
• Depending on your expertise, contribute to SAP S/4HANA transformation activities, including preparation, blueprinting, realization, data migration and go-live.
• Act as a trusted point of contact for finance stakeholders and facilitate workshops and meetings with business and IT teams.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentor less experienced colleagues.

Ideal Candidate

You have a Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience and at least 15 years of hands-on experience as an SAP CO functional specialist. You have participated in one or more SAP Controlling implementation projects, including SAP S/4HANA, and have a strong understanding of end-to-end business processes and their implementation in SAP. Strong analytical and blueprinting skills are essential, together with extensive experience producing functional and technical specifications, managing application support and delivering change requests. You should also be comfortable analysing and debugging SAP programs, interfaces and custom developments. Experience integrating SAP with other modules such as PM, PP, SD, FI or PS is an advantage.

Requirements & Working Model

• 15+ years of hands-on SAP CO experience, including planning, CO-OM, CO-PC and CO-PA.
• Proven SAP CO implementation experience, including at least one S/4HANA project.
• Strong experience with blueprinting, fit-gap analysis and business requirements analysis.
• Extensive experience with functional and technical specifications.
• Strong application support, incident management and change request experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug SAP-related programs, interfaces and custom developments.
• Hands-on experience with integrations between SAP and external enterprise applications is highly valued.
• Native-level proficiency (C2) in either Dutch or French, with professional proficiency (C1+) in the other language and in English.
• Availability to work on-site in Brussels at least three days per week, with Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as mandatory office days.
• Proactive, solution-oriented and pragmatic mindset, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a large team.
• Comfortable handling ambiguity, changing priorities and deadline pressure, while continuously developing your expertise and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
