Scrum Master
Function
We're looking for an experienced Technical Scrum Master to support our client's Agile software delivery teams. This role goes beyond traditional Scrum facilitation by combining Agile coaching with a strong technical background. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring not only effective Scrum processes but also high-quality software delivery through measurable performance indicators and DevOps best practices. Acting as the bridge between developers, functional analysts, Product Owners and business stakeholders, you will play a key role in improving delivery reliability and driving continuous improvement.
The Role
As a Technical Scrum Master, you will facilitate Agile ceremonies across multiple development teams while fostering collaboration, transparency and self-organisation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives and Backlog Refinement sessions.
- Coaching teams on Agile principles, Scrum practices and continuous improvement.
- Removing organisational impediments and ensuring the Definition of Ready and Definition of Done remain effective and up to date.
- Supporting DevOps practices by monitoring CI/CD pipelines, deployment performance, quality gates, automated testing and technical debt.
- Following technical and architectural discussions to help identify blockers without assuming the role of architect or lead developer.
- Ensuring user stories are sufficiently analysed and estimated before entering a sprint.
- Promoting collaboration between developers, functional analysts and Product Owners while translating technical concepts into business language.
- Tracking and reporting Agile delivery metrics including velocity, sprint predictability, lead time, cycle time, DORA metrics, defect leakage, code coverage and backlog quality.
- Preparing sprint and management reports while maintaining accurate backlog governance in Jira.
- Identifying delivery risks related to planning, quality, dependencies and capacity, while supporting compliance with security, data protection and internal governance standards.
The Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced Scrum Master with a solid technical background and a passion for Agile software delivery. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy coaching teams and can confidently engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in ICT or equivalent through experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years as a Scrum Master in a software development environment.
- Proven experience coaching multiple Agile teams simultaneously.
- Hands-on experience working in DevOps environments with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and cloud or hybrid infrastructures.
- Experience defining, analysing and presenting Agile delivery metrics to management.
- Full-time availability.
Preferred certifications:
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
- PSM II, SAFe Scrum Master, Advanced Scrum Master or Kanban Management Professional are considered strong assets.
- ITIL Foundation and DevOps-related certifications are an advantage.
Technical Skills
Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of modern software development practices and Agile delivery tooling, including:
- Git version control and branching strategies.
- CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
- Quality management tools such as SonarQube.
- APIs, microservices, Docker and Kubernetes (conceptual understanding).
- Jira or Azure Boards, including dashboard creation and reporting.
- Technical analysis, data modelling and test automation fundamentals.
Key competencies include servant leadership, excellent facilitation and communication skills, strong analytical thinking, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluency in Dutch or French, with a good working knowledge of the other national language and English, is required.
