Security Configuration & Remediation Specialist

We're looking for a highly skilled consultant to join our client’s team, focusing on enhancing cybersecurity operations within their organization. The ideal candidate will provide expert technical support and guidance to various entities, assisting in the remediation of vulnerabilities and improving IT operational practices to ensure better security posture across the board.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be pivotal in delivering hands-on advisory services, addressing vulnerabilities and configuration gaps effectively. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing remediation support for vulnerabilities across diverse technical environments, including infrastructure, cloud, network, and endpoint systems.
- Offering practical advice on patches, configuration changes, and hardening actions to bolster security.
- Assisting local teams with complex vulnerabilities, validating resolution effectiveness, and ensuring swift remediation.
- Giving configuration guidance for various IT systems and advising on secure build standards.
- Embedding security practices into everyday IT operations with actionable insights rather than theoretical interpretations.
- Supporting immediate actions on urgent security incidents and exploited vulnerabilities, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Delivering workshops and technical sessions to empower local teams to manage security issues independently.
- Identifying recurring weaknesses and contributing to the continuous improvement of security protocols and practices.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will possess a wealth of experience in IT operations and security with a specific focus on vulnerability remediation and configuration. The following qualifications are essential:
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in roles related to IT operations, infrastructure engineering, or security engineering.
- Hands-on experience in various systems including Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, cloud platforms, and network devices.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management, security hardening frameworks, and operational risk reduction strategies is crucial.
- Experience in diverse, multi-entity environments is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
In addition to the required experience, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams alike. Key competencies include:
- A pragmatic, hands-on advisory style, adept at translating security findings into actionable items.
- A coaching mindset that encourages team enhancement rather than ownership takeover.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure during urgent remediation incidents.
- A broad technology knowledge with deep technical expertise in one or more areas.
- Fluency in English and Dutch is required to ensure effective communication.
