About the Role
To strengthen its IT capabilities, our client is looking for a Senior COBOL Developer to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing legacy systems, as well as participating in the development of new software applications. This role requires deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a strong ability to translate functional requirements into robust, scalable COBOL applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop COBOL applications in alignment with technical and business requirements

• Translate functional analyses into clear technical specifications

• Lead application development and execute both unit and integration testing

• Provide support during client validation phases

• Document all development work in line with internal standards

• Maintain regular communication with internal stakeholders regarding progress, challenges, and implementation

• Share knowledge and mentor team members to promote best practices and continuous improvement

Required Profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field

• Minimum 30 years of experience in the IT industry

• Proven expertise in COBOL and SQL, particularly with SQL Server

• At least 10 years of experience in training or mentoring IT colleagues

• Strong collaboration skills, especially with development teams using modern stacks

• Language proficiency:

  • Fluent in French (primary working language) and you live in Belgium.

  • Active knowledge of Dutch and English (reading, writing, speaking)
