Senior Data Engineer

Function

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the implementation of Microsoft Fabric and help establish a strong foundation for future data operations. This is a hands-on consulting opportunity for someone who can lead the technical implementation, build scalable data solutions, and coach an internal team through knowledge transfer, workshops, and practical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end implementation of Microsoft Fabric, from initial setup through to production-ready delivery.
• Design and implement a Medallion Architecture within Fabric, aligned with industry best practices.
• Build reliable and scalable data pipelines using Python notebooks and Fabric data engineering tools.
• Integrate Power BI DevOps practices into the data development workflow.
• Deliver coaching, workshops, and structured knowledge transfer sessions to strengthen the internal data team.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and help ensure a smooth transition to long-term ownership.

Technical Skills

• Proven experience implementing Microsoft Fabric in production environments.
• Strong background in Medallion Architecture, data pipelines, and Fabric-based data solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of data and services architecture and data architecture.
• Experience with data lake environments, data transfer, and data visualization.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python, notebooks, and modern data engineering workflows.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft BI and Power BI.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools in a data context.
• This role requires a high level of practical experience with Microsoft Fabric.

• Experienced data engineer with a strong track record in ETL/ELT environments.
• Hands-on problem solver who can contribute directly to implementation, not only to design or architecture.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and support technical upskilling.
• Collaborative team player who can take initiative and work effectively with others.
• Comfortable guiding stakeholders and embedding best practices within an internal team.

Practical Information

• Language requirements: Dutch or French, plus English.
• This is a long-term consulting opportunity.
