Senior IT Project Leader

Function

We're looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join our client's team and lead strategic technology initiatives within a complex business environment. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of critical application development and transformation projects across a diverse technology landscape. You will be responsible for ensuring effective governance, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and driving successful project outcomes while maintaining a strong focus on quality, timelines, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage large-scale IT projects from initiation through delivery.
• Coordinate project activities across multiple technology domains and business functions.
• Establish and maintain effective project governance structures and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure project objectives, milestones, budgets, and timelines are achieved.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align project deliverables with organizational needs.
• Facilitate communication between teams and proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and best practices.

The Ideal Candidate

• More than 10 years of experience managing complex IT projects with significant scope and budget responsibility.
• Previous experience within the insurance sector or a comparable regulated environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Methodical, proactive, and highly organized, with a results-oriented mindset.
• Capable of working independently while fostering collaboration across teams.
• Analytical, dynamic, quick to understand new concepts, and focused on delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Strong customer and stakeholder orientation, combined with excellent active listening skills.
• Concise and effective communicator with proven leadership capabilities.

Qualifications & Technical Expertise

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Solid knowledge of project management methodologies, including Prince2.
• Proven experience delivering projects using waterfall methodologies; exposure to Agile and Scrum environments is considered an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of test management practices and experience in business analysis are advantageous.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
