Senior Java Developer

Function

We're looking for an experienced Full-Stack Developer to join our client's team and contribute to the development of reliable, high-quality software solutions. In this long-term consulting opportunity, you'll work across the full technology stack, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help build and improve applications where performance, security, and code quality are key priorities. You'll also have the opportunity to explore emerging technologies, including AI-driven development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver new features.
• Ensure application performance, responsiveness, reliability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions.
• Promote clean code, sound software architecture, and automated testing practices, applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Share knowledge with colleagues, support junior developers, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Stay up to date with evolving technologies, particularly AI-related tools, practices, security standards, and confidentiality requirements.

Technical Profile

We're looking for a developer with proven full-stack experience and a strong technical foundation in the following areas:

• Frontend: Angular, TypeScript, CSS/SCSS; familiarity with Vue.js is an advantage.
• Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, QueryDSL, and Artemis.
• Databases and search: PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Testing: JUnit 5/6, AssertJ, and Mockito.
• Architecture and DevOps: Experience with hexagonal architecture and Spring Boot applications is beneficial. Familiarity with Docker, Tomcat, Nginx, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GHCP, and Kubernetes/OpenShift environments is a plus.
• AI technologies: Knowledge of prompt engineering, AI agents, skills, and Model Context Protocol (MCP), alongside an understanding of AI security and data confidentiality.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has demonstrated experience as a Full-Stack Developer and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Communicates effectively, works well in a team, and can also take ownership of tasks independently.
• Is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• Enjoys learning new technologies and adapting to rapidly evolving AI standards and guidelines.
• Has experience developing applications in healthcare or another regulated, public-interest, or compliance-sensitive environment; this is an advantage rather than a requirement.

Languages: Fluency in Dutch or French, with a good understanding of the other national language, is required. Fluent English is also essential.
