Function
Our client is looking for a senior full-stack Java developer to support a long-term program that is being reworked in response to evolving European environmental legislation. The assignment focuses on redesigning and rebuilding core applications and back-end systems used to collect, validate, enrich, and report emission data, as well as the related data warehouses and interfaces.
Responsibilities
You will work closely with the architect and contribute to both analysis and implementation across the solution landscape. Your scope will include building new functionality, defining interfaces between application layers, and ensuring the quality and robustness of the delivered software.
- Review and prepare technical analyses and technical designs in collaboration with the architect
- Develop functionality based on functional and technical analysis
- Define interfaces between the different layers of the architecture
- Develop Spring Boot back-end services and security components
- Develop Angular single-page applications
- Potentially develop Node.js back-end-for-frontend services
- Create unit tests with a strong focus on test-driven development
- Monitor and safeguard non-functional requirements
- Perform peer code reviews following a Gitflow approach
Technical Skills
The role requires strong hands-on experience with modern Java and front-end development, together with tooling and infrastructure knowledge that supports agile software delivery.
- Proven experience developing Java-based applications
- Strong experience with Angular 2-17
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with JUnit
- Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure
- Training, certification, or equivalent experience in programming languages and environments such as Java/J2EE
- Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience with Bitbucket/Git, Maven, REST, Spring, Jenkins, Terraform, HTML5, and CSS
- Experience with Domain Driven Design
- Experience with Linked Open Data
Profile
We are looking for a senior professional who combines technical depth with ownership and team-oriented working. The ideal candidate is comfortable coding, testing, debugging, and contributing in an agile environment, while also taking a guiding role when needed.
- Ability to lead a development team and coach developers
- Strong ability to carry out development assignments efficiently, including coding, testing, and debugging
- Experience taking a leading role within an agile way of working
- Certified Scrum Master is considered an advantage
- Experience with Node.js and npm is a plus
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL 11 and higher is a plus
- Knowledge of public-sector environments is a plus
- Knowledge of relevant technical standards within the organization is a plus
- Experience with domain-specific processes and custom software for water quality monitoring networks is a plus
