Senior Oracle Database consultant

Function

We're looking for a consultant to join our client’s team, specializing in optimizing database performance. This position involves working with a variety of database systems, particularly focusing on Oracle databases, while also collaborating with infrastructure engineers and business development teams to enhance overall performance. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to identify and address performance bottlenecks, contributing to the success of various projects.

• Analyze and optimize Oracle queries and configurations to ensure peak performance.
• Support business teams in diagnosing and resolving performance-related issues.
• Develop scripts and tools aimed at automating performance checks and diagnostics.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance database architecture and efficiency.
• Document findings and share best practices within the team.

• Strong knowledge of Oracle configuration and performance tuning, focused on optimal query performance without relying on paid options.
• Thorough understanding of DDL/DML operations.
• Experience with networking principles and modern authentication methods.
• Ability to write scripts (SQL, PowerShell, Unix, etc.) for performance analysis.

• Team-oriented yet capable of working independently.
• Able to challenge and improve existing infrastructure designs.
• Excellent documentation skills and the ability to share knowledge effectively.
• Ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical stakeholders.
• Highly aware of IT security best practices.
• Fluency in English and Dutch is required.

This opportunity allows for partially remote work, with a schedule of two days per week, and 50% on-premises work combined with telecommuting after a familiarization period. A secured company laptop will be provided for tasks. Given the sensitivity of the role, all candidates must undergo a significant security screening process, which may take up to 30 days to complete. The acceptance of this condition is mandatory, and candidates must remain available throughout the duration of the screening.
