Senior Portfolio Officer
Function
We are looking for a Portfolio Governance Consultant to join our client’s Strategy & Transformation environment. This role is ideal for a structured and analytical professional who operates comfortably at the intersection of strategy, governance, and data-driven decision making. You will help translate strategic priorities into a well-structured and transparent portfolio of initiatives, enabling leadership teams to steer investments and transformation activities effectively within a complex and regulated environment.
Role & Responsibilities
In this role, you will support leadership teams by strengthening portfolio governance and delivering clear insights into portfolio performance and value delivery. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting enterprise portfolio governance and investment decision-making processes
- Structuring strategic initiatives into clear roadmaps and portfolio views
- Preparing materials and insights for executive committees and portfolio governance boards
- Monitoring portfolio health indicators such as OKRs, value, risks, progress, and capacity
- Coordinating governance between Portfolio Management Offices (PfMO) and PMOs to ensure alignment and transparency
- Managing RAID elements and dependencies across initiatives
- Supporting scenario planning around value, risk, budget, and capacity
- Building data-driven dashboards and reporting using BI tools
- Collaborating with stakeholders across strategy, IT, finance, HR, architecture, and business units
Key Skills & Expertise
The successful consultant will bring strong experience in portfolio governance and portfolio management frameworks, combined with advanced analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Experience with enterprise portfolio governance and investment steering
- Strategic portfolio structuring, prioritisation frameworks, and initiative sequencing
- Portfolio health monitoring (OKRs, value tracking, risk, capacity)
- Development or improvement of operating models such as STO, TMO, PfMO, or PgMO
- Executive-level reporting and portfolio board preparation
- Experience with PPM tools such as Planview, Clarity, or similar platforms
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools including data collection, analysis, visualisation, and storytelling (e.g. Power BI)
- Scenario planning and portfolio balancing in complex environments
- Knowledge of portfolio management frameworks such as MoP, PfMP, or SAFe Lean Portfolio Management
Profile of the Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Sciences, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in complex or regulated environments
- Experience working with cross-domain and multi-level stakeholders including strategy, finance, IT, business units, and external partners
- Strong advisory mindset with the ability to support executive-level decision making
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach
- Agile mindset combined with a structured governance perspective
- Fluent in either French or Dutch, with a good working knowledge of the other national language
