Senior RPG Developer

Function

We're looking for a consultant to join our client's team. This hybrid role provides the opportunity to contribute to impactful internal software solutions, driving efficiency and innovation across the organization.

Responsibilities

The consultant will:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements for both new and existing software solutions.
• Align development efforts with business strategies and objectives.
• (Co-)Design, develop, test, and deploy internal applications utilizing modern programming languages and technologies.
• Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and system enhancements.
• Monitor, maintain, and enhance existing applications to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and deliver effective solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Share knowledge, contribute to team development, and refine workflows.
• Collaborate closely with IT, various business departments, and leadership to achieve shared goals.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Co-create technical and user documentation and provide training on internal tools.

Profile

Required technical skills:

• Proficiency in SQL and RPG ILE (Free), including embedded SQL
• Experience with IBM Rational Developer and IBM Data Studio
• Familiarity with VSCode, XML/JSON, and MS Office
• Understanding of communication methods on I-Series: MQ Series, FTP, DDM, IFS

Nice-to-have knowledge:

• Experience with RPG400 or older versions
• Knowledge of Webservices/SOAP
• Familiarity with IBM APIs
• Experience with ARCAD or other software change management systems
• Experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Full Stack Development skills
• Proficiency in Java Development

This position requires fluency in English, and proficiency in Dutch is also essential. This is an on site rol (5 days a week).
