Senior SAS Base Developer

Function

Our client is looking for an experienced SAS Developer to join an established Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing team. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the development, maintenance, testing, and optimization of data processing applications within a complex technical environment. You'll work closely with analysts, architects, data engineers, and fellow developers to enhance existing solutions, implement business requirements, and ensure the reliability and performance of critical data processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business and functional requirements in collaboration with business analysts.
• Develop, test, and maintain SAS Base applications, data processing programs, and ETL workflows.
• Perform corrective and evolutionary maintenance of existing applications.
• Optimize SAS programs, batch processes, and data integration workflows to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Conduct unit testing and contribute to integration testing activities.
• Investigate technical issues, implement solutions, and translate complex business rules into efficient code.
• Create and maintain technical and functional documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the quality and continuity of data warehouse solutions.

The Ideal Candidate

• At least 5 years of experience in SAS development and data warehousing environments.
• Strong expertise in SAS Base, including DATA Step, PROC SQL, SAS Macro Language, and advanced SAS programming techniques.
• Experience handling and integrating multiple file formats, including Excel, XML, JSON, and flat files.
• Experience integrating SAS with relational databases, particularly Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Solid understanding of ETL concepts, data integration processes, and data warehouse environments.
• Proven ability to analyze, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize existing SAS applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured, pragmatic, and results-oriented approach.
• A proactive mindset, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to quickly understand existing applications and business processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.

Practical Information

Candidates must be fluent in French and/or Dutch, both spoken and written, and be comfortable reading and understanding technical documentation in English.
