Senior System Administrator

We’re looking for a Senior System Administrator to join our client’s highly specialised technical environment. In this role, you will help shape, maintain, and modernise critical server and infrastructure platforms that support sensitive operational activities. You will work closely with infrastructure, security, network, and operations specialists in a bilingual and multidisciplinary team, with a strong focus on reliability, continuity, and secure system performance.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments

• Manage core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and DHCP

• Monitor, optimise, and support virtualised environments including VMware, Proxmox, and Hyper-V

• Ensure security, patching, backup processes, and business continuity across the infrastructure

• Contribute to the design and evolution of robust, scalable system architectures

• Automate recurring administrative tasks using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl, or Ansible

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and software-related issues

• Document infrastructure, processes, and technical components clearly and accurately

• Assess technical risks, take ownership of assigned work, and escalate where appropriate

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while also working independently when needed

Profile

• At least 7 years of experience in system administration across Windows and Linux environments

• Strong expertise in virtualisation, storage, and infrastructure security

• Solid understanding of networking, identity management, and broader infrastructure components

• Experience with scripting and automation in enterprise environments

• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is considered an asset

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, or equivalent hands-on professional experience

• Analytical, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset

• Proactive, discreet, stress-resistant, and dependable in critical environments

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to different stakeholders

Language & Additional Requirements

• Native-level Dutch or French, with a good understanding of the other national language

• Good written and spoken technical English

• A high-level security clearance is required for this position
